The Italian Inter Milan striker was injured at the end of August, and after two months of absence, he resumed training and played, but he again complained of hamstring pains. Martinez said Lukaku is currently working hard to recover in time, with the national team doctors testing his condition every day.
“We will make a decision on it right before the framework is announced.” – Said the Spanish specialist who will announce the list of the team that will travel to the World Cup on Thursday. “He will decide if he can be used in any of the group matches, if so, he will be in the team, and if not, we will not take him with us.”
Belgium will start its World Cup campaign against Canada on November 23, Morocco on November 27, and Croatia on December 1. All this means that if the doctors on Thursday see that Lukaku will be fit to play in the group stage against the Croats at the latest, he will be included in the squad.
The World Cup kicks off next Sunday with Qatar and Ecuador.
