The Prague Cup Final has been renamed in honor of 39-time Grand Slam winner Billie Jean King, featuring the world’s 12 best national teams. The fight, which lasted until Saturday, was supposed to take place in Budapest last April – Hungary won the right to settle for three years – but was postponed by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic and then canceled again this spring for similar reasons. In May, the International Federation (ITF) announced that it was looking for a new venue for the event because the Hungarian Federation had withdrawn from the event.

Previously, two teams competed in the finals, and one of the finalists was the host, but in the new format, the event will be held in one place in one week with the participation of the 12 best national teams. Four groups of three teams are formed, the winners from the groups advance to the semi-finals, then the winners compete against each other in the finals.

The stakes in the last game of Group D were advancing. Czech Olympic silver medalist Marketa Vondrosova confidently won the first match, but in the jump, Tokyo quintet champion Belinda Bencic tied, meaning the doubles match was decided. The duo of Bencic and Jill Belen Tishman also defeated Lucy Hrdecá and Katerina Siniakova in a big late-night battle, the Swiss advanced and a match with the Australians in the top four.
