British Prime Minister Boris Johnson defended the England national team on Twitter after Hungarian fans hurled and racially abused English players at the Hungarian-English game on Thursday. The English team got to its knees under the anthem, and after Raheem Sterling’s goal, the Hungarian fans threw plastic cups at the player. During the match, the “monkey roar” was said to be heard from the Hungarian ultras.
In his tweet on Twitter, the British Prime Minister wrote: “It is completely unacceptable that England players were subjected to racist abuse in Hungary last night. I call on FIFA to investigate the matter urgently and take strict action against those responsible in order to put an end to this disgraceful behavior in the game.” .
The Hungarians lost the World Championship qualifiers at Puskas Arena 0-4. FIFA has already launched an investigation into the behavior of Hungarian fans.
