As we mentioned earlier, there was a dispute between Romania and the United States over the Olympics. Because in the women's floor gymnastics final, Romania's Ana Barbosu had already finished third,
But the Americans saved the result with the referees,
Because they believe their opponent, Jordan Chiles, deserves more points than he got.
The competition judges upheld the appeal and awarded Chiles the highest score of ten, knocking Barboso off the podium.
However, the Romanians did not leave it at that, they also appealed, but not to the competition judges, but first to the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), and then, after its rejection, to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) with a request for legal redress.
But surprisingly, they did not question the legitimacy of the result, but based their argument on the fact that the American team was awarded a penalty kick after one minute had passed.
The court ruled in favor of the Romanian team, and the International Gymnastics Federation changed the final result again on Saturday, placing the Romanian runner in third place again.
But the case did not end there, as the American team also filed a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, indicating that it could prove through video recording that Cecil Landy, the coach of American gymnastics, issued the warning 47 seconds after the result was announced.
