Thanks to an impeccable group stage – where they also defeated Germany, Iceland and Poland – the national youth handball team was able to advance to the semi-finals of the European Championship by two points. Here, with success against Portugal, and regardless of the outcome of the last round, Hungary can certainly continue to perform in the semi-finals.
“It was a great experience when it turned out that we were definitely in the top four,” recalls Feketty Gellert, a defender for the national team and academy of Beck, when asked by Delemgyarurszag. – Up front, our goal was to get into the top eight, so we definitely experienced the semi-finals as a huge success. It was good to win a match between the four, but we’re not complaining about the fact that we didn’t succeed – continued Fekete, who feels he could have helped the national team more defensively.

– Icelanders and Swedes, who produced the Nordic style, as well as the Germans, played very fast handball. We had to adapt to this, but we succeeded and solved our tasks well. We had just beaten Germany in the group stage, but they were more focused in the bronze medal match, so they won – He answered our question about the influence of his opponents.
The Germans won the bronze medal in a 29-22 match, but the picture of the match was not smooth. The result was about equalizing until the twentieth minute, then a difference of four goals appeared in Germany’s favour. In the second half, the students of Krisztián Kárpáti overcame their deficit, but the opponent regained the three-goal difference again. In the last quarter of the hour, only the German scenario prevailed, they won the bronze medal with confident success.
