The Epic Game Store, one of the largest online stores selling digital games, will soon be available on iOS and Android platforms. The X was recently announced in the form of a teaser, but no further details were revealed via the official account.
In our previous articles, we discussed the legal battle between Epic and Apple, specifically regarding the game Fortnite. A little reminder: Because the company bypassed Apple's payment system, which takes a 30% cut from developers, Apple has removed Fortnite from the App Store. Then followed lengthy lawsuits that ended with mixed results.
Regardless of the court rulings, Apple, at least within the borders of the European Union, is forced to allow users to install apps, or in this case, games, from third-party app stores.
In this regard, Sweeney took the opportunity to get a little ahead of Apple. The teaser says that the upcoming Epic Games Store for mobile will provide the same fair conditions for all developers, regardless of platform, and will ensure everyone has the opportunity to play amazing games.
Apple is having a hard time taking the defeat, because although the EU law on digital markets may come into force at the beginning of the month, Apple has defied the new regulation and removed the Epic account from its store. The calculation was restored a few days later and the company was fined €2 billion, but it seems Apple still wants to play by its own rules.
When it comes to mobile operating systems, the App Store and Google Play Store are currently the two largest and most popular app stores. However, the third alternative is definitely good for developers and competitors, especially if the Epic Game Store will operate with lower fees than the other two alternatives.
