The European Union's foreign affairs service said on Tuesday that the bloc condemned North Korea's launch of a ballistic missile on July 1, which violated a UN Security Council resolution.

MTI wrote that according to North Korea's announcement, two Hwasong-11Da-4.5 tactical ballistic missiles, also capable of carrying “very large” warheads, were successfully tested. The spokesperson for the European External Action Service said that the European Union reiterates its call on North Korea to stop all illegal activities that threaten regional and international peace. The EU also urges North Korea to comply with its obligations under UN Security Council resolutions and abandon its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programmes in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner.

The statement stressed that the deepening cooperation between North Korea and Russia, which violates numerous UN Security Council resolutions, is a source of grave concern. The EU strongly calls on both countries to stop illicit arms transfers.

The European Union has indicated its readiness to cooperate with all its partners in diplomatic processes aimed at the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
