To look at the eyes of a person who died hundreds of years ago – so far this was not only possible by means of imagination or art. However, today, with the help of science, this becomes a reality: at Szeged University (SZTEDigital Reconstruction processes depend on historical bone discoveries that bring unknown people to a new life.
Unique in the country, Luka Kis, a research colleague in the Department of Humanities at Szeged University, works in this special project. He not only provides an exciting experience scientifically, but also an emotional special experience: with the help of reconstruction, we can look at the past and contact directly with the deceased.
Unique digital technology – sculpting on the screen
The traditional face has been rebuilt so far in Hungary only through sculpting methods, Luca Kis is the first to do this in a digital form. Digital modeling allows you to handle all layers one by one during the creative process, withdrawal, and cloudy, and make the result more verification.
This method resembles traditional sculpture, and even digital tools instead of physical materials. This is not only more accurate, but more flexible: it is possible to examine various hypotheses, for example, and make the reconstruction of the face as real as possible.
Mit was born the battle of Muhax and the man faced an African era again
The current Luca Kis works include two big projects.
Rebuilding the face of people from mass graves in the battle of Mohak: The researcher tries to return the faces of the victims based on the human remains in the battlefield to bring them closer to people today.
Re -building the face of AVAR: joint search with a memorial garden in óusztaszer, where Gabriella Lezsák works with a long time. The grave of the man has been discovered with rich attachments, so a person of distinct importance is rebuilt.
Both projects aim to provide scientific results in museum exhibitions and to help emotionally associated with the past.
Science and human relationship – the past face to face
One of the most important benefits of rebuilding face is that it not only provides data on history, but also by closing the previous people. Display a skull in an exhibition and rebuild the associated face gives it a completely different experience from watching material discoveries.
This method gives life to the past and opens a new perspective for both researchers and ordinary people. With the rebuilding of the digital face, people who live only centuries ago can only be academicly visible, but they can also touch an emotionally present man.
