The finals were quickly forgotten

The finals were quickly forgotten

Nexon has already admitted that Embark Studios' free-to-play shooter hasn't lived up to expectations, but they believe they can reignite players' interest in the finals.

In December, The Finals, a free-to-play shooter from Embark Studios, hit the gaming community at such a high speed, that it soon managed to display 250,000 concurrent users on Steam. Nexon had high hopes for the online shooter, but unfortunately its momentum stalled very quickly.

The publisher confirmed that The Finals did not achieve its goals, but work is underway to find out why. Apparently, even Nexon doesn't know how to generate interest in the game.

Although the start of Season 2 in March brought a short-lived increase in players, the servers eventually emptied quickly and revenues did not go according to plan. Embark is working with the Live Operations team in Korea to address major issues (including cheaters). The failure of the finals is partially offset by the results of other titles in the publisher's portfolio.

Let's hope this isn't the end of the story yet and the finals get going again soon.
