It took a while for the studio to get to the point of developing an exclusive game as part of Xbox Game Studios, but this first-person RPG will be.
Clockwork Revolution is a first-person action RPG that is steampunk of time-bending. In it, we come across an incredible invention that allows us to travel into the past. We discover that the vibrant, steamy city of Avalon we live in has been created by changing historical events. By returning to key moments, our interactions and decisions have a butterfly effect on the deep, narrative-driven world and characters of Avalon, causing them to change and react in unprecedented ways.
inXile is even about that WireClockwork Revolution has dynamic time-bending combat, deeply connected RPG systems, and the ability to create your own unique character from the ground up. The project is being led by Chad Moore (Director) and Jason Anderson (Lead Designer), who previously came across one of the greatest Steam RPGs of all time, Arcanum. It takes place in the vibrant Victorian town of Avalon, where steam locomotives soar overhead, wealthy industrialists trade in ornate prostheses around the clock, and mechanical servants fulfill their masters’ desires. But the new Age of Wonders hides a dark secret, carefully constructed by the ruthless Lady Ironwood. Using a time travel device, alter key moments in Avalon’s history, preserving the working class in the slums and factories while amassing immense wealth and power.
Discovering Ironwood’s plan, we can go back in time with a wonderful tool, the chronometer, with which we can influence the past, and then return to the present to see the results of our decisions. With visual depth and an unprecedented and complex narrative, the choices we make on our journeys into the past change people, stories, and Avalon in extraordinary (often) unexpected ways. In Clockwork Revolution, inXile has taken RPG interactivity to new heights, infusing them with the unique texture and personality you’d expect from their games. This time, the studio has used Microsoft and Xbox resources and support from the very beginning, but it is only at the beginning of development.
