We will conclude the year with a home match against Vasas on Friday at Nandor Zamosi Sports Hall, and we will need the support of our fans more than ever.
Just a week ago, it was difficult to find a smiling face in our team, as we suffered our first defeat of the season as visitors to MAFC. At the same time, it also meant that Vasas Akadémia finished top of the NB I.B Red group table – it’s true that if we can crush the Budapest side on Friday night at home, it will only be a temporary situation.
Fortunately, lethargy has not prevailed within the team, and the boys are already focused on the next important task.
– I think the team reacted well after the defeat, because we worked hard this week – said one of our most routine players, Oliver Pirro. – Maybe no one expected us to finish the year undefeated, but we wanted to. We didn’t play well against MAFC, and maybe we weren’t as focused as we needed to be in a tournament like this. However, this is not the end of the world, because Iron Man is coming. We have to beat them and then we can finish the year in first place. It will be a very difficult match, that’s for sure, because Vasas are playing well and efficiently, and they are flawless, so we have to tighten our pants.
Our coach, Zrzesko Šekulović, also gave a short professional explanation, which led to our first defeat.
– It was a very difficult match against MAFC where unfortunately we couldn’t play the way we wanted The master said. – In the first half, our clearance under the backboard was not good, so the opponent was able to get many offensive rebounds. In the end, we succeeded in turning the score around, but when we were in front, we missed two successive attacks, and MAFC took advantage of the opportunity.
However, Šekulovic is not worried, as he is also looking forward to the match against unbeaten Vasas.
– There is a big rally coming, but we are favorites at home, so there is no other choice, we have to win Our coach said. – I hope we can celebrate with our fans at the end of the year.
We will certainly need our players now more than ever during the season. So let’s fill the Nándor Szamosi Sports Hall together and create an atmosphere where nothing but a home win will be out of the question!
We didn’t play well in the capital, and although we were able to turn things around in the last quarter, MAFC did better in the beginning.
