The Google Device Finder network will be activated within days

Trackers are not only extremely useful, but they can also be dangerous. Precisely for this reason, Google and Apple announced last year that they would join forces against unwanted tracking. A few months later, Google introduced warnings, but until Apple built in similar protections, it didn't launch its own Device Finder network. Within days, the time would finally come.

Google sent one to some Android users e-mailHe announced the launch of the long-awaited Device Finder network within days. The message specifically states that the system will be activated within three days, which means that in principle it will already be operational on Sunday, but it is very likely that it will be activated on Monday of next week, April 8. Here is an excerpt from Google's official message:

With the new Network Device Finder, you can find your devices even if they're not currently connected to the Internet. You can find compatible Fast Pair accessories even if they are disconnected from the device. This includes all compatible earbuds and headphones, as well as trackers that can be clipped to a purse, wallet, or bike. You will be notified on your Android devices if this function is activated within three days. Meanwhile, you can log out of the network via the web interface. You may opt out of the tracking network's functionality in advance by clicking this link.

We are not publishing the link because it is only available to those who have received such an email from the search giant. The introduction of Device Finder may seem a bit glib. The reason behind this is that iOS 17.5 will finally provide the necessary protection against unwanted trackers, which was first discussed with Google in 2023. Based on Google's rollout timeline, iOS 17.5 will likely be released next Monday, after which There will be no obstructions on their part to arm the network.
