The Greek Prime Minister was sworn in

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was sworn in on Monday, after his New Democracy (ND) party won an outright majority in the legislature in the previous day’s elections.

In his opening speech on Monday, Mikotakis promised to introduce reforms to revamp the credit rating system, referring to the 2010 debt crisis. In addition, he emphasized that they would like to increase income from tourism and, not least, adjust wages to the EU average.

According to the results processed in 99.6 percent, the Hellenic Socialist Movement (PASZOK, 11.9 percent), the Communist Party of Greece (7.7 percent, 20 deputies), the anti-immigrant Spartans (4.6 percent, 12 seats), the right wing. The Greek Solution (4.5 percent, 12 seats), the right-wing National Democratic Movement – Victory (3.7 percent, 10 seats) and the left-wing Freedom Path (3.2 percent, 8 parliamentary seats)) also.
