Hungarian national hockey player at Hydro Fehérvár AV19 Andrew Saraor, who has strengthened the national team since 2015, and with whom he celebrated promotion to the elite in Kraków, is retiring from elite sports.
The club announced on their website on Saturday that the 38-year-old Canadian-Hungarian striker has requested the termination of his contract, which is in effect for the 2023/24 season. Saraur decided to retire ten years after his arrival in Szekesfehervar and played nearly 500 matches in the Austrian Bundesliga.
“Today I am retiring from the sport I love. For the past few weeks, I have felt that something was lacking in my summer preparations, and that is when I knew it was time to finish it. Ten years ago, you welcomed me to your wonderful city and country, which are soon to become my home.” – said the announcement, in which Viktor Zelig also said goodbye to the Fahrevar class.
“It’s no secret, we also talked about the fact that after his retirement he will remain within the organization and continue to work in the professional staff, and unfortunately that will not happen now. On behalf of the club, we wish Andrew only the best, and we wish our former player a lot of success in the future.” said the band’s general manager.
Saraur Andru joined Szekesfehervar in 2013 and spent four years with the team, then played for a year in Villach, but returned in 2018 and strengthened the team for another six seasons. Two years after his arrival in Hungary, he took the oath of Hungarian citizenship and was a member of the Hungarian national team that celebrated promotion in Kraków, and then remained a stable member of the national team for several years.
