Spanish human rights group Safeguard Defenders released a report in September that said China may maintain illegal cross-border police stations in as many as 30 countries.
The Reuters He now writes that Germany has already begun to investigate whether or not the illegal police station is located in Frankfurt. The German government has not yet confirmed whether there are such police stations in the country. Nor has China commented on the September report by Safeguard Defenders.
Meanwhile, the CNN He writes that the authorities in the Netherlands are also checking to see if there are illegal Chinese police stations in the country. The situation here is similar to that in Germany: there is no official confirmation.
However, according to press reports, the Chinese state has opened at least two police stations in the country since 2018, one in Amsterdam and the other in Rotterdam.
There was some backlash from China to the Dutch thread, but it didn’t help dispel the gloom. At the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s press conference on Wednesday, journalists from Dutch RTL Nieuws asked the spokesperson if there are Chinese police stations in the Netherlands. These reports are completely false, the spokesman said.
According to the spokesperson, the so-called police stations are actually service stations. “The purpose of these service centers is to help overseas Chinese who want to renew their driver’s license or go for a medical examination,” the spokesperson said.
