The property of approximately 28,500 square meters is strategically located in a major industrial area of Győr. The building is well suited to the needs of DS Smith's business, providing opportunities for future growth and supporting the production of packaging solutions to replace plastic.

To date, DS Smith Packaging Hungary has used part of the property as a tenant. The seller is OTP Real Estate Investment Trust, the leading real estate investor in Hungary.

“I am pleased to announce DS Smith's new investment in Eastern Europe, purchasing our site in Györ, Hungary. This strategic investment expands our existing plant with a state-of-the-art facility, strengthening our position in the region,” said Reinier Schlattmann, DS Smith Managing Director for Eastern Europe. “It provides our customers with sufficient space for packaging solutions aimed at replacing plastic.”

“The sale of the property in Gyor is part of the long-term strategy of OTP Ingatlan Befektetési Alapkezelő. We have an excellent relationship with DS Smith, who is the largest tenant of the property, and we are happy that as a result of our cooperation, they will become future owners of the property,” added Dora Kenes, CEO of OTP. “. Ingatlan Befektetési Alapkezelő Zrt.

This strategic acquisition strengthens DS Smith's presence in Hungary, where the company operates two traditional corrugated packaging manufacturing plants in Vozisapony and Nagykat, as well as four service centers in Tiszaogváros, Nagykat, Szekesfehirvár and Sárvár.

This investment ensures long-term operational continuity at the DS Smith plant in Győr, improves its cost structure and creates a solid foundation for further growth in Hungary. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2024.
