Sony announced fewer new smartphones this year than ever before. Since the company has been dealing with Android devices, there has never been an example for a year to bring in just two new models. Regardless, the company wants to draw some attention to its products, so it resorted to a well-established trick: offering a different existing product in a new color.
It is not unusual for major manufacturers to announce a new color version of an important device a few months or half a year after its introduction. The new color could already be there, and it's not that important at all, but the first thing is that the specific device will appear again in the columns of the news pages.
Of course, manufacturers always try to create a more special color to attract more attention, and sometimes it works out well. For example, the purple iPhone 12 was a huge success in its time, becoming the most popular color option after its release. Well, let's see what Sony is made of.
Next to/between the Xperia 1 VI and the This unique color will allow users to express their own style with the Xperia 1 VI phone. In addition to high performance, the device also emphasizes fashion in this way, as stated in the company’s announcement.
“By combining a more intense, saturated color with the matte texture of the back glass, which strives for functional beauty, we have created a multi-toned color that can appear bright orange or dark red depending on the viewing angle and environment.” said Sony technical director Kuro Murai. According to the company, the special edition reflects the latest technologies offered by the device.
While we're at it, it's also worth noting that Sony recently made an interesting upgrade to the Xperia 1 VI. It's very rare to see a smartphone get a new feature in terms of its hardware after its release, but that's basically what happened with Sony. The company has released an update to its high-end device that also gets Wi-Fi 7 support, switching from the previous Wi-Fi 6E.
The Japanese announced this in a somewhat unusual way, reporting in an Instagram post that the Xperia phone will come with improved WLAN capabilities in the future. The rumors did not mention exactly what is changing from a technical standpoint. Wi-Fi 7 can generally provide higher bandwidth, lower latency, a more stable connection, and lower power consumption. Sony writes that streaming can be smoother, games can run faster(?) and lag-free video calls can be made.
The Crimson Xperia 1 VI will only be available with 512GB of storage, and will be available across Europe, so hopefully it will arrive in Hungary as well. There are no additional fees for new clothes, but it is enough that the device is expensive even without it, as more than 600 thousand forints have to be paid for it.
