In January of this year, a flight attendant on an American Airlines plane, waiting for takeoff in Phoenix, complained about a passenger's bad body odor, so three black men were kicked off the plane along with five other black men, the newspaper wrote. Sky News.
Because of what happened, three of the missionaries filed a lawsuit on Wednesday because, they say, they were treated this way only because of the color of their skin. They could have traveled completely independently of each other on the same plane to New York, not knowing each other before. the BBC It says the three men who filed the suit, Alvin Jackson, Emmanuel Jean-Joseph and Xavier Vail, noted upon delivery that “all the black men had been removed from the flight.”
American Airlines offered them a new reservation on a later flight, but there were no other flights to New York that day. At that point, they were allowed to return, the lawsuit says. The return flight took about an hour after they had to leave the plane.
The airline stated that it is investigating the victims' allegations, and that it takes all cases of discrimination seriously, the announcement said.
The NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored Leathers), a civil rights organization, also spoke out in the case, after which American Airlines promised to make changes.
