The system of ski slopes will be built on the eastern slope of the Vigiazu Mountains, where the ski season is scheduled to last for 9 months.
The Cluj District Council and the local government of Sekelejo have already successfully reached an agreement on the basis of which it is planned to build a modern ski slope that will meet the highest expectations on the eastern slope of the Vigiazu Mountains.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Council President Allen Tate announced that they will partner with the local government to make the project a reality as soon as possible. So far, a lawsuit has stood with an individual in the way of the ski slope, which was settled last year, so the local leadership could soon order a feasibility study, main field.
Most of the funds for the investment will come from EU funding, and the costs will be covered by Cluj County Council. The goal is for the ski resort to serve as a reference for the province of Cluj and Romania as a whole, for example by being open for most of the year.
Temperature and terrain allow you to do winter sports on natural snow for half a year, but the use of artificial snow can last up to 9 months. According to studies, the Szeklerland ski resort promises to be a profitable investment, which, according to initial plans, will start near the summit of Vigyázó, which has a height of 1,836 meters and a meander at an altitude of 1700 to 1100 meters.
The owners of the idea plan that the ski paradise will have a total of 50 kilometers of piste system, which will be the longest in Romania. In comparison, the ski slopes in Sinaia are 20 km long and the ski slopes in Bukovel, Ukraine are 65 km long.
