The most unique Airbnbs from around the world, where we should stay

A trip is an opportunity to explore new places, experience new cultures, and create lifelong memories. Most of the time, our accommodations also impact how we feel in a given place, so let’s take a look at the world’s most architecturally and geographically unique Airbnb properties that we feel we wish we could stay here forever.

Ponte Delgada, Portugal

Would you like to spend a night in a windmill?Source: Airbnb

This 19th century windmill located on the west coast of São Miguel, Portugal is designed for beach lovers. Surprisingly, there is a lot of space in the windmill, so a well-equipped kitchenette, bathroom and living room are also designed. A spiral staircase leads to the master bedroom which has sweeping, endless views of the Atlantic Ocean. The grounds also include a large garden filled with fruit trees and flowers and additional accommodation for up to seven additional guests. The windmill accommodation can be booked from 57,000 HUF per night.

From here it is worth really keeping an eye on the horizon.Source: Airbnb

Although it’s not located in a galaxy far, far away, this adobe dome may be a favorite destination for Star Wars fans. The Dome is a very remote and unique place in the desert near Big Bend National Park in Texas. Although the lodge relies on solar energy and water is sourced from a small rainwater harvesting cistern, these minor inconveniences don’t really matter when you have an unparalleled view of the skyline. Accommodation can be booked from 46,000 HUF per night.

The Lov’ Nid Passion love nest is located 6 meters high in the middle of the forest. A spiral staircase leads to the first part of the greenhouse, and from here a suspension bridge leads to the beehive-like bedroom. A smaller toilet has also been set up in the gazebo, and fully equipped bathrooms are located in the reception building. Here, we have nothing to do but immerse ourselves in nature and listen to the birds chirping. The romantic accommodation can be booked for two people, and prices are 84,000 HUF per night.

Shrek Swamp in ScotlandSource: airbnb.com

Our favorite Green Ogre, Shrek’s former hideaway in the rolling hills of Scotland, can be booked from next October. Shrek’s Swamp is home to all kinds of fantastical creatures and promises an exclusive stay in the swamp, where Donkey bakes pancakes for guests in the morning. The property, designed with a rustic interior, can be booked for up to three people, but you need to be prepared for the fact that there is no internet or TV here, as this is the perfect place to have a good time and recharge your energy.

Quetzalcoatl’s nest is a massive structure that is not just a building, but a huge, complex sculpture characterized by bright colors and sinuous shapes. The back of the apartment, which resembles a giant snake, has round windows through which you can admire the magnificent landscape. The property is fully equipped, including 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry room. Surrounded by primeval forests, valleys and wild animals, accommodation prices are very reasonable, and can be booked from 180,000 forints per night for 6 people.
