The football match between Hungary and Serbia, held on Saturday, set a record viewership, with more than 1.3 million people watching the broadcast for at least one minute, the Press and Marketing Office of the Media Support and Management Fund (MTVA) announced.
In addition to the incredible action, Saturday evening’s encounter also set an impressive record for viewership.
In the first half, 703,000 people watched the match, in the second half, 840,000 on the M4 Sport channel and 104,000 on the m4sport.hu website.
20.9% of TV viewers chose the game on Saturday night, and the percentage was even higher for men: 31.4% tuned in. More than 1.3 million people joined the broadcast for at least one minute in support of the national team. After overtaking the home match against Bulgaria in March, this match became the most watched sports broadcast of the year in Hungary.
The match was watched for an average of 78 minutes by viewer on M4 Sport and 59 minutes on m4sport.hu, both the highest in terms of number of matches in the qualifying series.
They mentioned in the announcement that the success of Marco Rossi’s team on Saturday means that Hungary can qualify for the 2024 continental championship in Germany as group leader, if it wins over Lithuania on Tuesday evening.
