The Nationwide Charity Challenge starts today with increased prize money and a new voting option

Columbus, Ohio – The annual Charity Challenge launches nationwide today, giving football fans a way to help Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominees earn extra dollars for their chosen charities. As the presenting sponsor of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, Nationwide encourages fans to take on the challenge and vote for their favorite nominees between now and January 8, 2024.

Second and third place winners will receive donations of $10,000 and $5,000 respectively, all provided by Nationwide.

Online votes will be combined with votes cast by the traditional method of posting on X (formerly Twitter) using #WPMOYChallenge followed by the last name of their preferred candidate and/or the candidate’s name somewhere within the post. In cases where multiple candidates share the same last name (for example, Justin Jones and Jonathan Jones), all valid votes must be included Hashtag #WPMOYChallenge and the nominee’s X handle or full name.

During the “double voting” window on January 2 and 3, all online votes and eligible social posts will be counted twice. Also during the five-week campaign, many teams will be running social media promotions, including giveaways, to support their candidates.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won the charity challenge last year. The second and third spots were Washington Chiefs offensive tackle Charles Leno Jr. and Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins.

Along with participating in the Charity Challenge, fans also have the opportunity to directly contribute to some of the causes the candidates support through an online fundraiser hosted by Alltroo, the fundraising platform co-founded by three-time Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee Kyle Rudolph. . The 2023 NFL season marks Nationwide’s 10th year of sponsorship of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. Since 2014, Nationwide has contributed more than $2.3 million to charities represented by various candidates.

The winner of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award presented by Nationwide will be announced during the NFL Honors broadcast on Thursday, February 8 at 9 pm ET on CBS.
