We were fortunate enough to see János Szikora’s production in public view in Sopron, and our colleague explained in his review why it was a bigger experience for him than showing field journalism. The following quote, taken from his writing, tells us everything about how he felt about the work itself:
Until now, the name of János Szikora was not well known to fans of Hungarian films, as he had only directed television films (Lady of Camellias, Anyegin, Ítélet és kegyelem), but with Hadik he managed to make his first cinematic film, which he did not evoke in historical adventure films. Not only in the old days, but also proved that even today, the genre also has a right to exist. The work, which deals with the most daring hussar trick in history, is a pure genre film that simultaneously evokes the stars of Farconi, Sons of a Man with a Stone Heart and The Three Musketeers and Zorro with Alain Delon in the lead role, but also in some ways a galactic gallop and captain of The Tenkes”.
So Hadik will be available on the biggest streaming service in the world in a few days, you can watch the full-scale preview of Hadik herself below.
