It was only a matter of time before they died at the site: it was revealed what happened to them.
The Netflix film crew found themselves in a very dangerous situation: they were making new episodes of Our Planet, but almost lost a tooth due to an unexpected attack.
According to director Toby Nolan, they wanted to shoot albatross chicks, specifically to depict how they learn to fly. So, they traveled to one of the Hawaiian Islands, the remote Lisan, and the special feature of the place was, among other things, that there had never been a camera crew there.
The Nowlans waited on the water in inflatable boats to catch a glimpse of the young, but instead of birds, sharks swam around and attacked them.
The water came towards us in a ‘V’ shape, a tiger shark jumped into the boat and punched huge holes in it. The whole boat exploded, everyone fled as best they could, but the shark never really left. It was awful. This was the second shark that attacked us that day.

Nolan added that he thought the sharks in the area were incredibly hungry, unable to find enough food for themselves, so they attacked everything in the water.
The team managed to escape: they swam to shore and tried to get into a smaller dinghy – but then were attacked by more predators. This time, a giant yellowfin spiny mackerel swam towards them and overturned the boat (luckily the crew survived).
Our original plan was to shoot underwater at Laysan Reef, but on the first day the sharks came, the team got into these inflatable boats – and two sharks attacked them. It was like a shark movie. The team panicked, and it was an emergency, so they fled back to the beach.
– recalled producer Hugh Corday.
