Apparently, Mercedes designers didn’t take any chances when they drew the lines of the new AMG GT. It continues the classic coupe tradition. His nose stayed clear, and they didn’t experiment with the angular design, everything was nicely rounded. The change is most noticeable at the rear, but overall, the undulating shapes continue the character of the predecessor here as well.
The best-in-class AMG GT 63 Coupe boasts 577 hp and 800 Nm of torque, which the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 unleashes onto the roads. It reaches 100 km / h in 3.1 seconds from a standstill. The AMG GT 55 Coupe is slightly weaker with its 469 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, so it accelerates to 100 in “only” 3.8 seconds.
On both models, a 9-speed automatic transmission transmits power to all four wheels. Because the new AMGT GT is equipped with all-wheel drive, although it can send all the torque exclusively to the rear wheels. In addition, the new generation also received a partially self-locking differential, rear steering and an adaptive chassis that can be lowered / raised by 30 mm.
The new AMG GT coupe could hit dealerships in the first half of next year, but Mercedes has yet to reveal anything about pricing.
