Bright green facades, bright sunshine, breathtaking views and stormy canopies of rain at any moment: the Scottish Highlands are unspoilt natural paradises that instantly capture the hearts of visitors. Dense cascades of pyramid-shaped mountains rising to almost 1,000 metres, meandering rivers and clear lakes that reach deep into ancient rocks provide a great location for outdoor sports enthusiasts – and challenging roads for the third generation MINI Countryman ready for any adventure.
The tour begins in Stirling, where one of the largest castles in Scotland is located on top of a volcanic rock called Castle Hill. From here you can enjoy stunning views of Loch Lomond National Park, home to the UK’s largest lake of the same name. Stirling Castle, first described in XII. It is mentioned in a document from the 19th century, owned by the royal Stuart family, and flourished during the Renaissance.
From Stirling, the A84 and A85 lead north through dense forests, past deep blue lakes, to the small town of Mid Lix. The A827 branching along the shores of Loch Tay invites you to explore the northeastern mountains, so on winding mountain serpentines the Mini Countryman can directly demonstrate the characteristics of comfortable and sporty driving dynamics.
Ben Lorz, one of the highest mountain peaks in the shape of a pyramid, has a height of 1214 meters, along which the dam of the surrounding rivers stretches for a length of 344 meters. Equipped with the capabilities of Sports Activity Vehicle models, the MINI Countryman drives right at home in the pristine landscapes of Scotland, while its spacious trunk provides space for all the equipment needed for adventurous outings.
The varied routes of the Scottish Highlands ignite a thirst for adventure in every visitor. Heading northwest, the A82 leads to the Glencoe Heights, a scenic route winding along cold-water rivers and freshwater lochs Lochan na h-Achlaise and the historic village of Bridge of Orchy.
Beyond the bridge over Glen Etive, a narrow path leads south along the wild river, where several waterfalls plunge deeper and deeper into the valley. The River Etive offers visitors one of the most challenging white-water rafting experiences in Scotland, so it’s no wonder that Daniel Craig, who played secret agent 007, rocked his pursuers on the banks of this river in the movie Skyfall. However, the MINI Countryman ALL4, equipped with off-road tires, handles road conditions further south than the sports car of the world’s most famous secret agent.
Along the A82 towards Arrochar, Falloch Falls provides a private stop. Continuing south, visitors are greeted by a view of Loch Lomond from the left until the junction with the A83 road leading to the western side of Loch Fyne, the northern end of the Strait of Clyde jutting out from the Atlantic Ocean.
The movement of the tides can be felt as far as Glasgow Harbour, and because of the associated currents, the waters of Loch Fyne are exceptionally fresh and rich in nutrients. This is an ideal environment for shellfish and the most diverse species of fish, and the Loch Fyne Oysterbar welcomes guests with incomparable gastronomic experiences – of course with stunning views of the sea and mountains.
The model featured in the press release is a prototype for technology development purposes and will not be commercially available. Due to developments in preparation for series production, values for average fuel consumption, combined pollutant emissions and power consumption, as well as for the purely electric range, are not available at this time.
