The number of new infections is still high in Austria

The number of new infections in Austria remains high. On Saturday, an official report said about a thousand people contracted the disease in the past 24 hours, a slight increase from the previous 24 hours, local newspapers reported on Saturday.

All this is well above the previous week’s average. Accordingly, the rate of diseases per hundred thousand people during the said period was 38.9 per cent and now this rate has increased to 59.5 per cent. According to the data, the spread of the epidemic mainly affects Salzburg, Tirol and Vienna.

The number of active infections in Austria rose by 404 to 8,121 on Saturday, as did the number of deaths. Since the outbreak in Austria, 10,754 people have died in the country due to complications from the COVID-19 disease caused by the coronavirus.

According to the latest data, the desire to vaccinate has also declined in Austria. On Friday, 24,343 people were vaccinated, which is exactly a week ago that number was still 41,674.

It was also officially reported that 60.3% of the population had received at least the first vaccination, while 55.7% are now fully immunized with two vaccinations.

The vaccination rate – 67.5 percent – remains the highest in Burgenland County.
