Last summer, KTM announced their signature with Danilo Petrucci, who left the Ducati factory team, but to less surprise, not for the factory team but for Tech 3, while Miguel Oliveira was promoted to the senior team.
Petrucci has not been able to fully adapt to the Austrian engine since then, and his best result this year was fifth in the flag to indicate the French Grand Prix, while he was ninth in Mugello after losing by four.
According to the Spanish version of Motorsport.com, KTM could have had the opportunity to activate the second year of Petrucci 1 + 1 contract by Monday May 31, but that didn’t happen, making him a free Italian post-season dealer. . However, KTM will not only unload Petrucci but also Ecker to be at the end of the year, provided Spain’s performance does not improve significantly in the second half of the year.
KTM also has two clear editorship candidates: two Moto2 champions, Remy Gardner, and surprisingly well-performing Raul Fernandez who, despite completing only his first season in the middle class with KTM support, has already had two also won a race, and in Mogilo only lost 1st place to Gardner in the last lap.
Update: The KTM Factory Team also announced that singles winner Brad Binder will remain with the team, in addition to extending it throughout 2024 with the South African jockey.
