The place is still up for grabs, and Mick Schumacher has not given up yet

Although there is only one door open for him, Mick Schumacher remains confident that he can return to the king's category as soon as possible. Whether he gets the big chance or has to look for a backup plan will be determined within days.

On paper, there are still two places available on the grid for 2025, but Red Bull's number two is certainly not counting on Mick Schumacher fighting for a comeback, which has only one option left: Sauber.

Although he is not considered a favorite for the Swiss team that will become the Audi factory team in 2026, his name has come up several times in relation to the team – mostly in relation to the German manufacturer. In this regard, Schumacher indicated that his main goal is still to return to Formula 1, and whether he will have the opportunity to do so or not will be determined soon, as Sauber will make a decision soon.

“They will decide in SeptemberSchumacher told German Sky Sports. “So we have to wait and see what happens. When the time comes and Plan A fails, we will deal with Plan B.”He added.

What is plan B? So far, he has been unable (or unwilling) to provide specific details on this topic. However, several options have already appeared in the press regarding this matter. We've read about him staying in the WEC, but also about the possibility of continuing his career in IndyCar. While Mercedes is also an option, as it will be a test competitor for the second year this year.

As for the stars, Schumacher indicated his desire to continue working with them. “I don't know where my path will lead yet, but I'm thinking of Plan B. F1 is the big target. It always has been and always will be. So now everything else will have to wait.”

“We will have to wait to look at other options. Things are going well with Mercedes. So, we are all confident that I will continue.” – He pointed out regarding the cooperation with the Germans, within the framework of which, in previous years, the engine partner could also take the track with McLaren in the testing framework.
