Chapa Rigo, President of the Economic Competition Authority (GVH), was elected as a permanent member of the Board of Directors of the International Competition Network (ICN), which brings together the world’s competition authorities, at the organization’s annual conference in Barcelona, GVH announced on Friday.
The announcement read: The President of the Hungarian Competition Authority has become a temporary member of the governing body for a period of three years in 2021, after the 2021 ICN Annual Congress was held in Hungary. This has now changed to permanent membership in accordance with the decision taken at the ICN Annual Conference.
They added that so far, no member of the ICC Board of Directors has been elected from the Central and Eastern European region. According to the announcement, Andreas Mundt, Chairman of the Administrative Body of the German Federal Competition Authority and the International Competition Network, emphasized that the elected membership is an acknowledgment of the work done by GVH in recent years.

GVH found that its previous actions had been successful, and that the company had significantly improved the issues identified.
GVH places great emphasis on international cooperation, which focuses on knowledge exchange, and tries to apply international best practices in its work, Chapa Rijo was quoted as saying in the announcement.
With membership, the GVH president sits at a table with the heads of competition offices in countries such as the US, Germany, Australia, the UK, Japan and India, GVH announced.
