The resignation of the president of Stanford University, many of his scientific works contained falsified data

Stanford University President Marc Tessier-Lavigne announced his resignation on Wednesday. It did so after a special investigative panel from one of the world’s most famous institutions of higher education found in a report that many of the studies contained “fraudulent research data,” one of which was Tessier-Lavigne, it reported. CNN.

Although according to the investigation, many scientific works related to famous neuroscience contained tampered data, there is no accurate information about whether the university president was aware of the fraud.

The Stanford Investigative Committee analyzed 12 studies, of which Tessier-Lavigne was the lead author in 5 cases. The rector will withdraw two of them completely and correct the remaining three.

Tessier-Lavigne’s resignation from her current position will become official on August 31, though she will remain on the faculty at Stanford University.

According to the report of the Special Committee, the examined works contained not only “gross errors in the presentation of research data”, but also “obvious manipulation”.

“Although I knew nothing about fraud, I wanted to take responsibility for the work of the researchers in my lab.”

Tessier-Lavigne said.
