On Tuesday afternoon, the first trailer for the second season of the Lord of the Rings series based on Amazon's big budget, The Rings of Power, was released. Accordingly, even those who are concerned about the lack of events in the first season will be happy, because according to signs, the events of the series will accelerate significantly with the return of Sauron, and there will be no shortage of action. It has also been revealed that Season 2 will arrive on August 29.
Everything that returns like Antar is here without needing to be completed From Halbrand From Sauron to Galadriel fire arrows of fire through an elven cavalry charge and a mighty siege, but the mysterious stranger who appeared as Istar at the end of the previous season also makes an appearance for a moment. What's more, even Adar, played by Sam Hazeldine rather than Joseph Mawley, who has (sadly) bid farewell to the series for season two, appears at the head of a group of goblins, although it's a good question what he'll do.
We wrote about the first season after the first two episodes that it was really impressive, but at the moment it lacked soul, and although a lot of interesting things happened in it along the way – you can read our articles after each episode here – in the end we came to the conclusion that… The most exciting TV series of all time is an eight-hour trailer for the next season. So Amazon founder Jeff Bezos “didn't bother” to quote his son, but it seemed like the creators were a little comfortable with the fact that they would have many more seasons to unravel the story.
For this reason, critics rated the series mostly favorably, but viewers did not so much – barely a third of Americans watched the series. Not to mention the fact that fans complained loudly week after week that the series deviated from canon, and that it had too many colorful characters. Whether the second season will be able to win over those who kept their mouths shut is a good question, but the answer will be revealed soon, because it is already confirmed that the first season will arrive on Prime Video on August 29.
