At the December 30 meeting, the Russian Football Union (RFU) will decide whether to remain in UEFA or join the Asian Confederation (AFC).
UEFA, like FIFA, banned Russian clubs and the Russian national team from all tournaments after Russia attacked Ukraine in February. Since the European Union does not want to relax, the federation believed that it should join the AFC instead, and the organization will decide on this Friday, according to an ESPN report.

The transition will be sporting history, as no one has ever left UEFA, but the AFC already had a ‘new’ country when Australia joined in 2006 from the Oceania Zone (OFC).
