Many people love Barilla sauces, and those who prefer to make their own different pasta sauces, such as soju, are often fond of them. This isn’t a big fad anyway, from a good quality tomato sauce, i.e. passata, you can make all sorts of sauces at home with relative ease and cost-effectiveness, from Arabia to Napoletana. Cost-effectiveness is also an important factor, because Barilla sauces – such as pasta – seem a bit overpriced in Hungary.
I was in the fortunate position of discovering the same discounted sauces a few days later on the shelves of Batthyány tér and Spar in Sicily, and you can already guess the result:
The Hungarian discount rate was 1,308 HUF instead of 1,869 HUF, i.e. about 3.50 euros instead of 5 euros. I remembered that this is usually around 2 euros in Italy. I looked, and luckily it’s on sale at Spar there: 1.60 instead of 2 (600 instead of 760 converted to HUF).
Other sauces are also subject to similar prices, with the more expensive bologna, which also contains meat, originally costing 2,639 Hungarian forints in Hungary, or 7 euros, which is equivalent to 3 euros (1,140 euros) in Italian mast.
I prefer not to report my experience at Nutella store. We have explained the prices of Barilla pasta with more or less success in the article “We need to talk about pasta”.
