Toyama Keiichiro, now at Bokeh Game Studio, has stated frankly that if she had the opportunity to develop the first psychological horror game like Silent Hill after Slitterhead, she would agree!
The studio, which we’ve come to expect from Slitterhead (it’s going to be an action-adventure game, but we think it’s going to be a bit warped in its characteristics, as it will also feature horror elements from the Silent Hill team, (Forbidden) Siren and Gravity Rush), is a video that asks the answer first part Posted over the weekend. Many topics have been touched upon by Japanese developers here, but one of Toyama’s quotes deserves to be highlighted.
Someday you also want to tackle some classic psychological horror themes. He did the same at Konami, where Team Silent had an unexpected huge success with 1999 Silent Hill on PS1. This game is directed by Toyama. It is interesting that he highlighted how he would disable himself, i.e. how would he restrain himself (perhaps precisely because the first part of Silent Hill was also born in a rather restrictive environment?!). Toyama will create with very limited resources (little money or focus on one person) because they currently have enough staff to create action packed gameplay.
Toyama added that he would later turn his team’s ability in a different direction, but would also create something more personal later. He said of Slitterhead that this was the sum of his old experiences, so Silent Hill was somewhat affected. But due to the action-focused gameplay, he prefers making the most of Gravity Rush (which he also worked on after the Siren series).
Will there be demo DLC packs, as we saw in Gravity Rush? Bokeh Game Studio didn’t want to confirm or refute it either, as they are now focusing more on the core game (which is a good position, as they don’t bother fumbling our wallets with items they sell in them up front).
The slitterhead He’s getting ready (and doesn’t know when that will be), and for Silent Hill’s return, let’s say there’s not much chance, despite plenty of gossip.
