Poroshenko was stopped at the Polish border. According to him, he wanted to travel abroad to negotiate an end to the blockade imposed on trucks at the border.
The Ukrainian politician had obtained permission to leave Ukraine, but the border guards informed him that the permission had been canceled and that he could not go to Poland. Oleksandr Kornienko, an influential member of the Ukrainian parliament, confirmed that he decided to cancel the license because he “received a letter” justifying this. He did not mention what was contained in the letter or who received it.
After the incident, Poroshenko announced that a “political attack” had been launched against him. Through which its domestic political opponents “weaken Ukraine’s defense capabilities.” He claims to have been attacked by the government of Volodymyr Zelensky; By the way, Oleksandr Kornienko is a party partner of the current president, while Poroshenko belongs to the opposition.
By the way, there have already been similar disagreements between the government of Zelensky and Poroshenko: Ukrainian authorities suspected the former president of treason shortly after he lost the 2019 election, while Poroshenko fled the country before an arrest warrant was issued for him. However, a few days before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he returned home and took up arms to fight against Moscow.
Despite being an opposition politician, Poroshenko initially supported Zelensky’s government wholeheartedly when the Russian invasion began. But since this summer, he has become increasingly critical of the current leader because, in his opinion, he is moving too slowly regarding the process of Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the European Union.
