US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan on Friday called on Americans in Ukraine to leave the country. The governments of Britain and Norway and the diplomatic corps in the European Union have done the same.
Sullivan says Russia could storm Ukraine before the Winter Olympics end on February 20.
“As we’ve said before, an invasion could start at any time if Vladimir Putin decides to order it,” Sullivan said at a White House news conference. Sullivan says Russia could storm Ukraine before the Winter Olympics end on February 20.
We want to be absolutely clear about this: All Americans should leave Ukraine as soon as possible, and no later than the next 24-48 hours. Anyone who remains is in danger of not having a chance to exit later and cannot expect the US military to evacuate in the event of a Russian invasion.”
The EU diplomatic service has also said that workers who do not have a vital role in survival will leave the country. The British government urged its citizens to “depart on commercial flights now while they are still available”.
The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also urged its citizens to leave Ukraine and not to travel to regions of Russia closer than 250 kilometers from the Ukrainian-Russian border, as well as to Belarus, except for the capital, Minsk. (PoliticoAnd The island)
