The United States is concerned about the relationship between Hungary and Russia

On Tuesday, Viktor Orban held a bilateral meeting with Putin during his trip to Beijing. He is the only EU leader to have attended the forum or met with Putin since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

The United States is concerned about the relationship between Hungary and Russia

David Pressman, US Ambassador to Hungary, said in a statement.

In a post on X earlier this week, Pressman wrote: “The Hungarian leader has chosen to stand by a man whose forces are responsible for crimes against humanity in Ukraine, alone among our allies.”

At their meeting in Beijing, Viktor Orban told Vladimir Putin that Hungary never wants to confront Russia and is trying to salvage bilateral relations.

After meeting with the Hungarian Prime Minister, ambassadors from NATO countries and Sweden met in Budapest to discuss their concerns about Hungary’s growing rapprochement with Moscow, Radio Free Europe reported.
