The United States lost badly in the Copa America.

The host United States did not qualify from the group stage of the Copa America, losing 1-0 to Uruguay in the final round.

The only goal of the game Kansas City Mathias Oliveira, The Napoli defender scored in the 66th minute when he hit the ball that bounced off the goalkeeper from close range. The incident was captured on video for a long time, and despite the Americans' strong protests, the VAR technology eventually ruled the goal valid.

Uruguay won Group C with a 100% performance, and the United States became the first host country to not survive the group stage.

Panama, who beat Bolivia 3-1, qualified as second in the group. The former lose their sixth match in a row.

Panama is participating in the Copa America for the second time, in 2016 – also in the United States – and did not reach the quarter-finals.
