The United States lost badly in the Copa America.

Panama qualified alongside Uruguay from Group 3.

The host United States did not qualify from the group stage of the Copa America, losing 1-0 to Uruguay in the final round.

Final group result: 1. Uruguay 9 points, 2. Panama 6, 3. United States 3, 4. Bolivia 0.
The first two places in the groups qualify for the quarter-finals.
