The car is electrically driven and will reach 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds.

British hobby car manufacturer Ariel has unveiled the E-Nomad prototype, an electric model based on the Nomad 2, but instead of a 2.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine, it is powered by an electric motor and produces 289bhp and 489Nm of torque, drawing power from a 41kWh battery, which provides a range of up to 240km on a single charge.

The car weighs 895 kg, and the 450-volt battery weighs 300 kg and is mounted on the rear bulkhead for better weight distribution. With the help of the fast charger, the battery is charged from 20% to 80% in 25 minutes.

The body is biocomposite, made partly from flax fibres, so it can be recycled at the end of the car’s life. Thanks to these fibres, Ariel was able to reduce the weight of the body by 9 percent compared to a carbon fibre body, while CO2 emissions during production were reduced by 73 percent.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 3.5 seconds, but Ariel made it clear that the car will not enter series production.
