The Belgian Meteorological Institute (IRM) said on Friday it was maintaining a level 2 alert across the country due to heavy rain and possible wind gusts, while the highest temperature in most parts of Belgium remained between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius.
On the Meteo France's four-point scale, the second yellow alert calls for vigilance and urges residents to carefully monitor forecasts due to potentially rapidly changing weather conditions, French-language daily La Libre Belgique reported.
According to Friday's forecast, the weather will continue with heavy rain, replaced by heavy rain in some places, with occasional winds, especially in the east of the country. Heavy rain is expected in some areas, with rainfall rates reaching 50 mm per square meter in six hours. They wrote that although the rain area will partially leave the country by the evening, the sky will remain cloudy with occasional showers.
