On the weekends, we tend to wander in the direction of slightly more exotic stories. Here, for example, an impossible story that a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time It’s about the original PC port it’s on and it works under the Ship of Harkinian name. Furthermore, the completion of the project will be presented in live presentations, and Nintendo’s lawyers have yet to complete the whole thing.
Of course, there are still (almost current) platforms where Ocarina can be played, so it’s enough to consider emulating the Switch or making a 3DS remake. However, the original Nintendo 64 title can’t be played officially, without emulation, close to the original quality. That is, it was not possible until now.
The Harkinian ship (The title itself is a nod to horrible CD games) Born practically from hard reverse engineering of source code, by the ZeldaRET team. Furthermore, the code is open source and the project took years to reach its current state.
Where can we get to Harkinian shipR? On the Discord channel (to search separately or as a file official forum search), where the download can be pulled. However, the package does not contain any meaningful content (texture, audio, text) from the original game, so the creators of Harkinian cannot be accused of piracy. To do this, you must have a legal ROM or some other way to access the original game (even the disc version released for the GameCube).
If you get to play Ship of Harkinian, you can experience widescreen visuals, new social modes, cosmetic options, and other small improvements — just like the true re-release, where the creators expanded their modesty toward the original with a series of technical ingenuity.
Let me know if you can give the port a try, it’s worth swimming the topic while it’s available at all…
