Then let’s take a look at what we saw and experienced. First of all, we look at how frantic preparation is evident, how many people are running, we encounter people who are already late, and to what extent pre-holiday panic affects customers.
Parking lots are crowded, the city center is deserted
What can be clearly said is that the shopping fever can already be felt in the morning, but it is not clear which areas of the city experience peak traffic and where it is less. We encounter busy streets as well as deserted areas in the city centre. However, in the city center parking lots, even in the residential area of Cherhat, you hardly see any empty parking spaces, not even in the more expensive areas. People arriving by car or crowded buses are dispersed, with one heading this way and the other heading that way. But the expected panic-like running is non-existent, many people are talking, making phone calls and walking. It is understood that even if it is cold, at least the sun is shining, making people feel better.
Size matters first and foremost
On the other hand, we can clearly state that before Christmas this year, the size is what matters most – well, not the clothes intended as a gift, but the specific store size. It is known that small shops in the city center have long been suffering from low customer traffic, and this can be observed, for example, in the old city center, but also on the pedestrian street. Although the choice is difficult, the service is delicious, and the seller or owner is friendly, we do not see a positive change in this regard. This is not the case in the case of major shopping centres, where the question is: Can the hustle and bustle increase more than what we have witnessed? Certainly yes, because the trend does not shift or change.
The waiting time here and there is very little
Finally, some experiences about car drivers. It is clearly visible in city traffic, in the morning it produces approximately average numbers in the afternoon, i.e. in the first half of the day, for example, we encounter queues at Jutasi út, as at other times around four o’clock or Five in the afternoon. Most cars drive straight (or walk) towards the roundabout next to the hotel, and continue towards a department store or shopping centre. Motorists are patient, even though they look at their watches, as the waiting time here and there is very small, as is the number of times traffic lights change.
So we visited a shopping mall, where we were shocked to see that there was no way to even get into the parking lot. A woman stopped right in front of the zebra crossing and got out of the car driven by her partner, who also had to stop because there was a line in front of her. For this reason, we are forced to wait at zebra crossings, irregularly, but not expected and therefore inevitable. This is the first unexpected situation when we have to break the rules against our will. There’s a commotion in front of us, behind us, and beside us, and by the time we reach the parking lot, we don’t really have a chance to stop. Every centimeter is occupied – and we also see irregularities in this regard.
Be brave, use the index…
But what is even more worrying is that for some reason we are afraid to use the indicator when we should. It is mandatory to index when entering and leaving the designated space within the parking lot. Such a device should be installed in every car, so let’s be brave and use it! This leads to the other unexpected situation, when two centimeters prevent the multiplication before our eyes. Fortunately, he prevents this, and the incident is followed by a mutual apology instead of insults. In this regard, we are changing in a positive direction, but rule-following behavior would help a lot.
