– In the summer of 2021, you joined your current team, Nyiregyhaza, and since then you have defended in 88 matches, and left the field without conceding a goal 28 times. How satisfied are you with your team’s performance so far?
– Compared to last year, I can say that what we have provided so far this season is additional. I don’t want to yell at you, I say this as a warning after every match. We’re in first place, and this year is looking pretty good so far. I’m satisfied with my performance, but there is always room for improvement, and I always think that it could be better, especially in my position.
– How do you feel in the club, were you able to find your accounts on NeregyHazes?
– I defended in 12 matches in this year’s tournament. However, recently I haven’t had the opportunity due to youth regulations, and the team has been playing well. We’re doing really well this season, I feel good. I am confident that we will maintain this level and have a very good season until the summer. We have to push this good level for as long as possible.
The team has very good momentum, has not been defeated in seven matches, and leads the league by two points. How is the atmosphere in the locker room?
-Very good, now a very good community has been formed, and a very professional work team has arrived, I can only praise the current conditions. The coach and second coach are doing an excellent job, everything is really positive. If you look at it, the results support that as well, but as I said before, there is always room for improvement.
– Does the fact that the fans now refer to you as a champion and expect you to reach first place mean any kind of pressure on you?
– The truth is that we always prepare for each match individually, and we do not care about promotion at all. It’s not said that this is our goal, we are just focused on trying to play at the highest level possible in every match and get as many wins as possible. If he succeeds we will see what is enough for him at the end of the season.
– Previously, as a Sepsi OSK player in the 2016-17 season, you experienced what it feels like to move from the second division to the first division. How do you remember what remains of it as a memory?
– Honestly, I don’t remember all the matches, but it was truly a fairy tale. We started the season with a 3-2 loss at home, and then immediately thought about not being relegated. We started to build slowly, and then a surprisingly good run followed, where we picked up a lot of points. Since then, we’ve learned that it’s finally been syndicated, which is huge. At that time, that year, that’s not what was expected of us, but we pulled it off, and the team did it. I am confident that this feat will be achieved again, everything is given to this in Nyiregyhaza.
– The situation is similar now. Last year the game went very poorly, we barely managed to avoid relegation, and this year promotion seems like a completely realistic goal. What is the reason for such a big step in the game shown?
– Before the season, we were definitely aiming to be in the top ten or eight. So far it seems to have moved on from this, but I don’t want to shout it out. Compared to last year, our current season looks very good, as I mentioned before, a new professional staff has arrived, and the players have arrived as well. Here I can mention Dominik Nagy, who previously played in the national team, or Barna Kisztis, who raised the level and with their help the team became more stable and better.
– Under the management of new coach Christian Timar, the team is on the rise. How is your personal relationship with him?
– It is a typical relationship between a coach and a player. I see him as a very fair coach and a very good professional. He gave me confidence in eleven games, and I can only praise him. In this regard, I would like to point out what I said previously, which is that the results support what I say. We’re trying to focus on making sure we don’t end up on a long-term worse streak.
– Your contract with the club will expire soon. How do you imagine your future?
– My goal is to be able to defend in Nyiregyhaza 1 again and I really hope this can now be combined with Nyiregyhaza. My contract runs until June, and then we’ll see how my career goes. What is certain is that I would really like to play in the Hungarian First Division, but if I could, of course I would do it with my current team.
– Have you ever thought about returning to your home country when your contract expires and defending the goal for Szecklewold again?
– Honestly, I did not think about anything like this. I always like to focus on my current club and give my best there. Obviously a lot depends on how many positions we finish at the end of the season, but I don’t rule out the possibility of playing at home again.
– You spent four years as a Sepsi OSK player, what is your favorite moment that you always like to remember?
– There is a match or two that I will always remember. For example, the match we played in Yashvasar, we won 2-0, and in that round I was also included in the national team on the day of the match, with 4 or 5 big saves. This is definitely one of my favorite matches, and I will always remember this match.
-Are you still in touch with any of your former OSK teammates?
– Only with those who played there at that time, but have since also found their way to FK Csíksereda: I’m talking about Balázs Csiszér and Lóri Kovács. Many people in the Szentgyörgyi team have been replaced, but for example, I am in contact with the priest and the bus drivers, the latter I met recently because they were here not far from Nyiregyháza. From the current framework, I can’t name a specific person that I speak to regularly.
– Recently, the coach on the bench at Sepsi OSK has changed, and according to inside information, Bernd Stork wants a goalkeeper who is at least 1.90 meters tall. How would you react if Sepsiszentgyörgy called you again?
– I already saw that a new coach has arrived in the team, so far it seems that they have found the right person. The results and the match that have appeared so far are encouraging. I’m not saying that I watch all their matches, but I try to follow the events in general. If they called me right away, I definitely wouldn’t be able to say no, and I would definitely have to think about it and take several aspects into consideration. I was there for four years and there will always be a place for OSK in my heart, I grew up a bit there. This is a matter of the future, we will see what happens.
