Hungary is also at the top.
IQ is determined by a standardized test, which ultimately results in a person’s IQ score – the higher the number, the “smarter” the person is. Although a high IQ undoubtedly contributes a lot to someone’s success in life, it is not all, because according to the latest research, emotional intelligence, i.e. emotional intelligence, is just as important – if not more important – to success in life. and general satisfaction.
The Statistical Brain Research Institute Every few years he compiles a list of countries with the highest IQ. Contrary to popular belief, education not only plays an important role in the average IQ of the population, but also plays an important role in the population’s health status and quality of life. Of course, there are peculiarities from one country to another that make it impossible to draw general facts and conclusions. In China, for example, the general standard of living is not very high, but the country is at the top, while the oil-rich Arab countries with a high standard of living are probably lagging behind due to poor education. So let’s see where the average IQ of the population is highest!
Asians lead the field
In both the 2016 and 2019 list, there are 5 Asian countries at the top – in the last list, the ranking is as follows:
1- Singapore (average 108) and Hong Kong (average 108)
2- South Korea (average 106)
3. Japan (average 105) and China (average 105)
4- Taiwan (average 104)
Asian countries are famous for being inhabited by bent and intelligent people, and for having strict and trying but rather effective education systems. Singapore is famous for being one of the pioneers in technological development. It seems as if the people who live here are constantly inventing new inventions that change the world, and they are very proud of that fact. Of course, the same can be said about the other actors in the top five list. They lead by example not only in terms of technology, public welfare and business acumen, but also in research and innovation.
European intelligence champions
After Asian countries, European countries have already appeared in the top ten, it is relatively easy to guess which of them is the best.
5- Italy (Average 102)
6- Switzerland and Iceland (Average 101)
7- United Kingdom, Norway, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Austria (average of 100)
8- Sweden, Belgium, Poland, Finland, Estonia and Germany (average 99)
In this part of the list, you can clearly see what countries are able to achieve, where the standard of living and the education system are almost OK. Italy’s ranking is perhaps a little surprising, as there are large differences in living standards between the north, center and south of the country, but intelligence does not seem to be affected by this.
In group with USA
The rest of the list includes countries with an average of 98, including Hungary, as well as the United States, Australia, Canada, and among our European peers, the Czech Republic, France and Denmark as well. Unfortunately, in 2016, Hungary’s average IQ was 99, but this difference can probably be attributed – with some favor – to a systematic error. However, Statistic Brain also draws attention to the fact that in the list of the happiest countries in the world, we went from 110th place in 2013 to 62nd place in 2019, and let’s face it, this is a huge leap. We can only hope that we will climb higher and higher, or at least be able to maintain our current positions.
It is not at all surprising that third world countries dominate the list that takes into account the average IQ. Among the countries surveyed, Equatorial Guinea ranks last with an average of 59 (!). Half of the country’s population lives below the poverty line.
