German authorities arrested four German citizens as they placed white roses on the occasion of Adolf Hitler's birthday in the Nazi dictator's birthplace in Austria, according to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”. News agency.

Hitler was born on April 20, 1889 in the Austrian city of Braunau am Inn, in the western part of the country. According to local police, four young men in their twenties and thirties arrived at Hitler's birthplace on Saturday, and placed flowers on the windows, and one of them raised his arms and took pictures of themselves.

The authorities spotted the group and took them to the police station for questioning. The woman who waved her arm said she did not mean what she did when police searched her phone and found numerous Nazi-themed messages and photos. The four young men were reported on suspicion of violating Austrian law prohibiting Nazi symbols.

Renovation work on the birthplace of the Nazi dictator began last year, after a long-term decision by a committee of experts to transform the building into a police station and training centre. There was also the possibility of turning the house into a memorial or demolishing it. The committee immediately rejected the latter idea, precisely because they believed that by dismantling Austria would send a message to the world that it was denying its Nazi past.

The house has been empty since 2011, after its last owner was expelled by court order because the authority was unable to reach an agreement with him. The owner later received compensation of more than 800,000 euros.
