They want to destroy the worst city in England.

Locals are fighting to restore the reputation of the Victorian seaside town. The Welsh town was once a popular tourist destination with holidaymakers flocking year-round to enjoy the sandy beaches and traditional seaside attractions.

Rhyl is located on the North Wales coast and had a long pier, an artificial lake for boating, a leisure park and a light railway line.

However, his reputation has taken a number of hits recently, with people sharing their scathing comments. A horrified visitor shared her feelings in February this year, and she didn’t really hold back. He said he had taken his children there to visit because he was Welsh, but left after 20 minutes feeling “ashamed” that she was part of his country.

Disgusting and dirty place. I felt like I wanted to clean my hands with acid after going there.

I can't understand why anyone would go there on vacation, it's the worst place I've ever been to. The whole place needs to be torn down and rebuilt, the cafes I wouldn't risk my health eating there, the carpet looks like something from the 50's. Absolutely disgusting.

He's not the only one to bring the city down, with others describing it as a dump, a bleak and a disgrace. Rhyl was named the worst seaside town in the UK last year.

The decline in popularity in the 1970s was blamed on the advent of package holidays, as British holidaymakers and locals flocked abroad in search of more exotic locations.

They also highlighted the closure of the famous Victorian pier and pavilion at the same time. The local shopping centre, museum and library were also closed, as was the seaside amusement park. In November, it was announced that the SeaQuarium, which attracted 80,000 visitors a year, would be closed for good.

Investment to regenerate the city has also failed.

In December, storms ripped off the roof of the SC2 water park, which opened in 2019. It has now been confirmed that the water park will not reopen this year, dealing another blow to the seaside resort. This year’s Rhyl Air Show has also been cancelled, writes A Mirror.

However, there are still reasons to visit – including a beautiful sandy beach, entertainment venues and a popular cinema. National chains have also built new hotels and Pro Kite Surfing, which attracts kite surfers from all over the UK, has invested in a Kite Surf Cafe.
