Born in 1923, automotive engineer Carroll Shelby, to whom the world owes many successful race cars and sports cars, from the AC Cobra to the Ford GT40 racing program. In 1962, he founded his company Shelby American, which still produces Cobra replicas and various Ford conversions to this day.
Now, to celebrate the centenary, the company has presented a special edition with a very resonant name, to be produced in 100 copies. the Carroll Shelby Centennial Edition Shelby F-150 Super Snake Its starting point — not hard to guess — is the Shelby F-150 Super Snake, which offers a 775-horsepower Coyota supercharged 5.0 V8, a planted chassis, and a sporty driving environment rich in leather and carbon for $135,000.
The Limited Edition is more powerful – almost 800 hp – the chassis has been improved, equipped with unique shock absorbers and stabilizers for tight turns, and the brake system has been replaced. In the passenger cabin, red ambient lighting and unique numbers and logos celebrate engineering genius.
Best of all, the Limited Edition costs only $2,500 more than the standard Super Snake. By the way, there is also a naturally aspirated version of the car without a compressor: you can save $9,000 on this, but you only get half the engine power (i.e. 400 hp).
Interestingly, the manufacturer installs the compressor only after the new owner registers the car in his name. We don’t know the exact reasons for this, it is likely related to licensing and taxes.
What makes the limited series a particularly good buy is that it also comes with a black cowboy hat – this is the same style that Carroll Shelby once wore.
