The Russian president has long been rumored, especially by his enemies, to be seriously ill. Recently, Christopher Steele, a former agent in Britain’s MI6, claimed that the Russian president needed permanent medical treatment. Now, three-time Oscar-winning film director Oliver Stone — who has been in the Russian president’s immediate vicinity for two years and has also filmed a series of documentaries with him — has spoken in a podcast about the Russian president’s health.
“Putin was sick with cancer, but he overcame the disease,” Oliver Stone said in a presentation to Lex Friedman, an American artificial intelligence researcher of Russian origin.

The Hollywood director added that between 2015 and 2017, when he was near the Russian president, he “knew him as a rational, calm and true patriot who works for the Russian people.”
