Nutmeg is the seed of a tropical plant used as a spice and medicinal herb. The nutmeg tree itself is native to Malaysia, but is also grown in Indonesia, the West Indies, and Brazil.

The nutmeg tree can grow up to a height of 15-20 meters, and it is an evergreen plant. It gives its first fruits at the age of 7 years, and its fruits continue for about a century. The yellow fruits, 8 to 10 centimeters long, contain the seeds, i.e. nutmeg, which are surrounded by a red layer of seeds.

It is ground in house and also available in whole form. If we buy it last, we'll need a kitchen grater. It is very hard, so it would be completely impossible to eat, and it is dangerous.
